The Odessy

Today in class we took notes on some slides and ten for the rest of class you read us a section of the Odessy. it was actually to my surprise very interesting unlike the book we are reading in English, Into the Wild. It was also very understandable unlike Shakespeare. It was the tale of how Odesyes and part of his crew outwit a giant cyclops that is going to eat them all. they get him drunk and stab him in the eye. then they hold onto the undercarriage of his flock of sheep so when he let the sheep out into the field they can run away. cyber day: Greek Buildings

This is known as a Parthenon and is a very important structure that was created in Athens Greece. It was made of ivory and had beautiful gold designs on them. They were dedicated to their God athena and were made primarily of slabs stacked on top of each other to create pillars, a design that would stick around and is still used today.

This is an amphitheater and is another large engineering feat of the Ancient Greeks. It is the first ever version of a theater ever created and there are even some in existence today. they were made of the rock in the side of the hill it was placed on. The use of this is for many people to be able to view something at once.

This is a structure known as a peristyle court and they were common among Greek city-states. they were most commonly made of ivory. this is a structure that was like a square doughnut. it is a square building with a square hole in the middle in which you were able to access for whatever the space was used for. this was a common theme for many temples in which to worship Gods and the design is still used today.

Going Over Test

Today in class we got our tests back and went over the answers to all the questions. i got all but 5 correct, they were all ones that i was unsure about. i didn't know that the Sphinx was built 4500 years ago, i didn't know an artisan would not be in the white kilt class even though i would have swore i put that as my answer, i disagree that the farmers would need board games because i never gave them that but thats OK ill lose points for a question WITH MORE THAN ONE CORRECT ANSWER.. thats all i have to say about that that. then we went over the powerpoint from our cyber day.

Cyber day 3

I learned many things on the first seven slides that i read.the first thing that i learned is that all of the worlds great civilizations were built on rivers.Mesopotamia had the Tigris and the Euphrates rivers, Egypt had the Nile River India had the Indus River, and China had the Huang He River. The significance of Greece's location is that it is a peninsula in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. Greece is covered in mountains that span long beyond the boarders of Greece. Greece is also surrounded by many powerful places like Italy and Egypt, this means that they had to be strong enough to hold there own in war situations. the main body of water that surround Greece is the Mediterranean sea. however the Aegean sea boarders the left of Greece and the Adriatic sea surrounds the left. The large island beneath Greece is named Crete and i modernly a part of Greece. Athens is on the inner coast off the Aegean sea, Sparta is more land based on the southern tip of Greece but closer to the Adriatic Sea.
